2017 Buick LaCrosse

Here is the second official teaser for the all new LaCrosse.
Looking quite slick.
Good news since the current car has been around for a while.
The new version of the 3.6 Liter V6 will be available.
But I'm sure the 2.0 Liter Turbo will be the base engine. Since it is in the more expensive CTS.

Here are two pictures of the real thing.
At least for the Chinese market. Looking pretty much like the same car in the teaser.
So it's actually not that exciting...
Unless GM has 2 different designs of the same model. Like they do with the 2016 Cruze.

So there might still be hope for something better...

Lexus LF-FC Concept

This is supposed to preview the next LS sedan.

It does look quite nice. Even with that (bigger than ever) giant mouth.
Or maybe I am getting used to it after all these years...

It actually is trying. Attempting to give a big sedan design some personality.
Unlike the 7 series. Or the A8 (And just wait for the "even more boring" next A8...)

We'll have to wait and see how much of this ends up in the actual car.

Nissan IDS Concept

If you tone it down just bit. Add door handles. Get rid of the blue trim.
It does look like it could be the next Leaf. (It probably is)

This and the rumored "over 200 miles range" would be quite an improvement. And would sure make the next Leaf even more popular.
As for the interior, it's still way too crazy. As the concept is meant to drive itself .
( a nightmare if you ask me...)

Subaru Impreza Concept

Looking fine. Nothing futuristic. Yet light years ahead of the 80's looking designs Subaru is producing now.
BUT.... Subaru has a horrible history of cool concepts that NEVER translate into production.
And we have seen these cool tail lights before on at least 2 or 3 of their previous concepts.

So who knows. maybe this is the one that makes into a product car. By this time next year it will be just OK.

Personally, I don't trust them.

New Nissan Concept.

By most accounts, there should be an all new Nissan Leaf sometime next year.
This new concept could be a preview.

So far, we only have this small teaser.
There are also rumors about a range of about 250 miles. Which would be quite an amazing improvement.
And would actually match what Tesla is claiming for its Model III.
Except, the Leaf is much cheaper than the "starting at around $35 000" Model III.

GM's Bolt is supposed to get around 200 miles on a charge too.

It true, this could put the sub $30 000 Leaf above the competition.

10.21.2015!!!

30 years in the making, really.
For those (like me) who saw the movie when it came out, this is quite amazing to just "be" today.

Unlike the De Lorean, the Mirai does NOT have a great italian design that will look great in over 30 years.
And it has about zero cool factor.
But... It is still an amazing technology. Something that would have really been unthinkable 30 years ago.

And what a great way to advertise it than using the actors from the film.
It almost makes the Mirai cool. (at least, it looks different)

Now, if they could only hire Giugiaro to design the next generation...

Lexus Luxury Concept

Lexus will have a concept version of the next LS sedan at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Show.

Which should be quite interesting. The big Lexus sedan is what started the brand in the US.
Not it faces competition from new comers to the segment, like Kia and Hyundai.
So this better be attractive...

But unlike Honda or Mazda, Toyota/Luxus concepts usually have little to do with what the production version will actually look like.
There seems to always be something missing in the translation.
That little something that ruins everything....

Volvo V90

The S90 sedan isn't even out yet, and we already get these pictures of the wagon version, the V90.
It had been rumored for a while that Volvo will be getting a wagon version of their upcoming top of the line sedan.
The car pictured here is, of course, a model. Probably by Norev (Like the leaked sedan pix).

I bet Volvo must be really pissed about this. The toy company leaking not one, but 2 secret models.

I really like this. I do like wagons. And a large luxury one seems great. And this already looks much better to me than the 5 series or E Class wagon.

Here is the concept we saw a while ago.
Which, of course, is so much better.

Still, I think Volvo did a great job adapting the design into a 4 door production wagon.
I can't wait to see the real thing.

2017 Chrysler Town & Country

This is so far the mod we've seen of the all new Chrysler minivan.

Looking much slicker than the current, and aging, model.
From this, it looks like the front will resemble the 200 quite a bit. And the sides seems pretty "wavy".

There should be  more pictures coming out before the January reveal.

Fiat Toro Pick up

This is, so far, for Brazil.
But we all know it could end up as a small Ram pick up in the US. (Or not?)

So far it looks OK. Not sure how big this is but it probably is smaller than the Colorado.
Which could be really nice. And cheaper.

We'll know more very soon.

Buick Verano Hatch

Buick is getting ready to introduce a new hatchback version
of the Verano. In China.
I really doubt we will ever see this here.

As you can see, the Chinese Verano is the exact same car as the new European Opel Astra.
(The new hatchback also comes with a sporty GS version )

We should see the US version of the new Verano really soon. As a sedan...

This is kind of sweet. (also a bit weird and sad at the same time) Seeing these guys 30 years later...

The future IS electric . VW has just announced a major witch from diesel to electric in the next few years.
Mercedes has mentioned similar things before.
And so has Peugeot.

It's just a matter of time.

But still, none of these guys are talking about flying cars yet.

2016/17 Mercedes E Class

So far the best picture I have seen of the all new E Class.
Of course, it is predictable. Since it always looks like a smaller S Class/Larger C Class.

But that's OK. This looks very nice. A "classic" design that will age well.
And will please all current E Class owners, which is the point.

Toyota S-FR concept

This is kind of refreshing. Especially for Toyota.
After the weirdness of the new Prius, Mirai. And other giant and aggressive grilles all over.
Scoops, lines, more lines.

This is simple in a cute retro way.
Described as a sub FR-S RWD sports car.

To me, this looks production ready. I mean, really. And would make a great Scion in the US.

It is small (While still having 4 seats). But still a bit longer than the new Miata.
So it's not crazy small, like that tiny Honda S600.

Subaru Impreza Concept

 Another Impreza Concept.
Again, let's hope this actually becomes the next Impreza.

At leas the sketches look great. We will see the actual concept dry soon, and it probably will look great as well.

So gain, there is hope for the Impreza. But we've been fooled before...
This is what they showed us right before the current Impreza came out.
A concept that really looked production ready. So much so that pretty much everyone expected the production car to look almost exactly the same.
We got this instead.

With enough changes to make it one of the lamest offering in its segment.
So sad.

Last year, Hyundai sold about 3 times as many Elantras.
( I am not even mentioning he best sellers like the Civic and Corolla)

A great design like the one pictured in the sketches above (or even something close) would really help Subaru.
Right?

Subaru Viziv Future Concept

Let's hope this becomes something.
Unlike most Subaru's past concepts. That were all really good looking, and became nothing.

I mean, look at their current line up. It ranges from boring to ugly.

They have been doing really well in the US lately, and they do make really good cars.
But they really need to have more appealing and modern designs. Not many people think of Subaru when they want a Camry or an Accord.
Subaru is for people who want something different. And that shouldn't mean "ugly".

The concept pictured here looks great. And ready for production!
Add 2 more doors and turn it into the next Forrester!

2017 Cadillac XT5. Or XTS???

It is XT5.
But I really think the font they use on the car looks like an S. As much as a 5.
If you read it quick, you basically see "XTS".

Amazing that no one at GM ever noticed that?!?!
No one thought of making the "5" just a little bit larger?

Tesla Model X : no more fake grille.

One thing that always bugged me about the Tesla Model S was the fake grille up front.
Looks like Tesla got rid of it for good with the new Model X.
(Funny how they made it a surprise, as their prototypes were covered enough to make us thing there was a grille.)

Another nice surprise is the giant windshield. Going all the way to the end of the front door.
A really cool feature that must make the car feel different from anything else.

(I have seen this feature on the Opel Astra coupe a few years ago. And some current Citroens also have extended windshields)

But, it still looks like a bloated version of the sporty Model S.
Which might or might not look really weird on the streets.
And the Falcon doors seem way to "showy" for me. And they are slow, so people will be staring at your car. (Or you and your family), for a long time every time you use them.
(Or maybe that's the point?)

And the range. A bit over 250 miles. Which is fine, but not better than the 4 year old Model S.
Does that mean Tesla isn't able to do better? At least for a while? In 4 years?

And of course the price. At over $130 000, this is a rich person's toy.
More "regular" versions will be priced at around $5000 more than the equivalent Model S.

Which still means over $80 000 to start...
