All new Honda Civic

Last Updated:

This is quite surprising. Even after seeing tons of spy shots, patent drawings etc…

I think the new Civic looks very impressive. Some details are a bit much. Like busy bumper design, that chrome pice on the grille.
But overall, this looks really good. And much more modern and upscale.
There will be a coupe version of course.
And, for the 1st time in many years (in the US) a hatchback.

I think this could actually really hurt the Accord. It this new Civic is roomier, why every bother with something larger and more expensive?

  1. It looks almost as big as an Altima! Love the look, just hope I am wrong and it is only slightly bigger than the present generation Civic. Well done, Honda!

  2. Has anyone seen spy shots of the Coupe yet? (The real car – not the concept). That's the one that interests me most. Thanks!

  3. This isn't bland like the current version, but it is not a great design. I think it is AWFUL. Time for an emergency refresh again.

  4. I'm just happy that that little d-pillar window is actually a window, not just a piece of black plastic.. looking at you, Prius..

  5. Okay.

Finally, a Honda I would buy. I think it looks fantastic. I can't wait to see the interior…

  6. Wow, I'm very impressed with this modern, upscale looking Civic! Front chrome strip is a bit much but doesn't really hurt an over-all great design. If I were in the market for a compact car, this would definitely be on my short list. Great job Honda!

  7. I have to admit that I am very pleasantly surprised. It look rather deformed in a Crosstour sort of way in the patent drawings, but it actually looks rather sexy (especially for a Civic) in these photographs. I will go on record to say that it may be the best looking mainstream compact sedan on the market when it reaches showroom. That is definitely saying something for Honda, whose designs have been mostly lackluster for quite some time now. Overall, it looks sporty, sculptured, well proportioned, and upscale. I'm definitely putting this new Civic on my shopping list, which is something I have never said about a Civic before.

It does look like it has grown considerably. Is it possible that this new gen Civic may be sized closer to the discontinued Acura TSX? It looks like it will fall more in the entry midsize category (I'm thinking close to the Suzuki Kizashi or 1st gen Mazda6) than a true compact.

Speaking of Acura: Things may get considerably tougher for the TSX if this new Civic can combine a rather roomy cabin, a refined ride and interior environment, a few upmarket tech goodies, and a decently powerful and efficient engine into such a sharp looking package. The exterior design of this new Civic is already miles ahead of the not particularly beautiful TSX. Why would anyone want to pay higher prices for a TSX when this much better looking and probably roomier Civic is available at a lower price tag?

  8. Not sure why this is getting a "wow" reaction. I'm guessing that Honda has set the bar so low with previous models that this is looking good to everyone?? Looks a little tortured to my eyes.

  9. This is really beautiful. It's also interesting that they're coming out with a Touring edition.
I agree that this will cut into Acura ILX sales. With the Acura TSX now history, the only reason someone would buy the ILX is that they want an AUTOMATIC 201 hp engine.

  10. rear end a disaster, side sentra ( only redeeming g feature) like, front corolla ( yuk) copy….failure

  11. Oops! I totally messed up this part of my previous comment. I fixed it below.
