Bentley SUV teaser video

So they are doing this...

Reminds me of what I felt when Porsche announced the 1st Cayenne. Blasphemous.
(Of course, we all know how wrong we all were and the Cayenne has been a huge hit.)

So I guess everyone has to have an SUV these days.

The only good thing I can say is that it does not look like the horrible EXP 9F concept from a while ago.

In case you guys forgot, here is the EXP 9F concept. ( and what a great name too!)

One of the worst car designs I have ever seen. A horrendous, vulgar beast that also ends up looking cheap.
(It has that rancid 80's cheap wannabe look.)

From the teaser we can see the front is different. Even the rear and side rear windows. At least.

We'll see....

2015 Hyundai AG

Hyundai has just shown to the press an all new sedan, so far only named AG.

It will slot between the Azera/Grandeur and the new Genesis.
So it is basically a slightly larger, more luxurious Azera since it is also FWD.

This is mostly for the Korean and Chinese markets.
I can't really see it coming over here. Unless it replaces the Azera....(?)

Nissan Skyline 200GT/Infiniti Q50 2.0

It has been around 4 years since Nissan and Mercedes announced a "Global partnership".
The 1st result of it is this all new 2.0 Liter Turbo version of the Infiniti Q50 (Nissan Skyline in Japan).

The new model is using a Mercedes 2.0 Liter engine with 214HP.
The next step will be the all new Q30 based on the Mercedes A Class.

Of course, a smaller engine will help in Europe and Japan.
But I think Nissan should bring this over here, quick.

I love the big 3.7 Liter V6 from Nissan. Everyone does.
But it gets terrible gas mileage. ( I could only get 23MPG HWY in the compact EX a couple of years ago!)
It is time for them to offer something else. And not just a hybrid version. Or a hybrid using the smaller 2.0 Liter.

2015 Toyota Yaris

Just the usual mid-cycle changes.
A new front end and rear lights, some small changes inside etc...

It looks like that big mouth look is the new Toyota corporate design. Since we saw this in the new 2015 Camry as well.
It does start looking weird. A bit like a Chinese car...

Volvo XC90 Interior

Volvo has been teasing us with the all new XC90 for so long now...

But today we finally get to see the real thing. Inside.
And it does look quite impressive.

Although, for my taste, there seem to be a lot of shapes. The center screen with the vents on each sides looks like it doesn't really belong there. Or it could just be something else.
Still, the whole think looks really upscale.
Now that Volvo and Mercedes are coming up with great interiors, the ones from BMW really seem old...
I was actually hoping for something more like this. The interior from the XC Concept we saw just a while ago.
It seems a lot simpler, modern and original.
Why didn't they just do this???

2015 Lexus NX

We have seen the new NX before. But I thought these might be interesting as they show it in the streets. Not in a studio, or auto show.

As I mentioned earlier, like it or not, I think this will turn out to be quite popular. Maybe even more than the RX.

2015 Mercedes C Class wagon

What a good looking classic wagon.
I actually think this will steal sales from the larger and more expensive E-Class wagon.
The C-Class is a bit smaller, but so much more modern.
And the new interior is light years ahead of the old blocky mess in the current aging E-Class.

This is just really nice.

But, as usual. This will probably not make it over here. So we, again, will not get the full C-Class line up.
Although the convertible is coming our way later....

2015 Audi A7

There are a few new things for the A7 next year.
Besides slightly revised engines and rear lights, most of the news are up front.

As you can see, it is the usual for updated Audi models: "make it more square".
The lower part of the bumper sure is busy.

But overall the changes don't ruin the design. And the new headlights actually look really slick.

(The 2015 model is pictured on top)

All new Nissan Pulsar

The Pulsar is Nissan's new weapon against the VW Golf in Europe.
Which means it will also compete with the Focus, Astra. And more odes from Peugeot, Fiat and even its partner, Renault.
So far, it looks more like a US Nissan than a European one. Even with the hatchback.
Not sure the design is very appealing to a European audience...

The interior doesn't seem much better than the Note.  We'll see....

GM bit on the John Oliver show

Interesting...
I wonder if there is that much hate for GM right now. Since it seems their recent sale numbers have not been affected. Yet.

Subaru prices the 2015 Legacy: Free AWD for everyone!

The all new 2015 Subaru will start at $21 695, before destination.

Here are the starting prices for some of its competition (Also excluding destination):
- Toyota Camry $22 425
-Honda Accord $21 995
-Ford Fusion $21 970
-Kia Optima $21 500
-Mazda 6 $21 190
-Nissan Altima $22 170

So it is either cheaper or about the same as its competition. But you get AWD. Basically for free.
And it won't cost you a penalty at the pump either.

As the new Legacy is rated at 26/36 MPG
-Toyota Camry 25/35 MPG
-Honda Accord 27/36 MPG
-Ford Fusion 25/37MPG
-Kia Optima 23/34 MPG
-Mazda 6 26/38 MPG
-Nissan Altima 27/38 MPG

You get the idea. It's pretty much the same as all the FWD competition.

Of course, for my taste, I would get a Fusion or Mazda 6. (But who knows, the Legacy might be a great drive too)
Compared to the most popular car, which is the Camry, the new Legacy starts looking really good.
On paper, and in pictures. The revised Camry just looks odd. And its interior is mostly the same as the current model.
Which I drove a couple of weeks ago. And found its interior pretty bad....
(The new Legacy also has a quite blocky interior design, but it seems much more tasteful.)

It will be interesting to see how it does....

2015 Dodge Challenger

Just in case you were wondering what the revised model looked like when in a parking lot...

It does look good. Dodge did a good job and didn't ruin the design.

(funny how half of the lower bumper is still a bit covered...)

Lincoln MKC testing something?

We've all seen the new Lincoln MKC, at least in pictures.
So there is nothing to hide. Or is there?

This was taken just a few days ago.
What could they be testing?
It could be a Hybrid version, or plug-in Energi model?
Which would make sense since the technology is already available from other Ford/Lincoln models.

What do you think?

Nissan Pulsar

This is coming out in just a few days.

Expect Nissan's new front end  (seen here) and a "floating roof" design element similar to the new Murano and upcoming Maxima.

The all new Pulsar will be sold as a 5 door hatchback only. No 3 door version.
And no sedan. As it will battle mostly against the Golf. In Europe.

And that's where it will stay, as we are not getting it.
Because here, we have the amazing Sentra. One of the most boring sedan ever, generation after generation...

Nissan Z Roadster Test Drive

The current Z Roadster has been around for a while. So there are no surprises.
But it still looks really good. (Although not as original as the previous generation.)

It is like a rounded/wavy version of the previous one. With the top down, it is quite aggressive looking. And kind of old fashion .

The only "faux pas" is the recent addition of the stupid looking LEDs up front. As they do not match the rest of the car. At all...

Inside, it is a bit claustrophobic with the top up. (But that is also true of the regular hard top version anyway. )
The dials in front of the driver are getting a bit old. It has a weird 90's look to me.
As a matter of fact, the whole interior seems to have aged more than the exterior.
Here are the ugly LEDs. And they are also way to bright in day light. (Which looks really obnoxious, and cheap.)
The trunk is just fine for this kind of car. (A two seater convertible.)
Nobody will expect more.
The wheels on my test car looked fantastic. They were part of a $ 2830 "Sport package" . (Which included Sports brakes, and "Euro tuned" sports shocks. (More on these later)
I have driven the current Z before.
Even the convertible version. But this one had the "Sport package".
Which makes it quite a different car ...

The big 3.7 Liter V6 sounds great, as usual.
It is plenty fast, at all speed. It is rated at 18/25MPG.
Well... The best I got around town was 14. (And that was driving like grandma.)
Most of the time, with a light foot, I was getting around 12. Which is worst than V8 versions of the Mustang and Camaro.

Infiniti does need a newer engine. 12MPG around town for a V6 is just not good enough these days. Even in a sports car. (Plus, I have no idea how they can claim an impossible 18MPG City in the 1st place)

The ride is just too hard. So hard that is affects the steering .
The Sport Package is just way too much.
(The regular car handles great to begin with and is drivable every day. This isn't.)

It became kind of a chore to drive the car after a while. As I do not live on a race track , and have to use it on a daily basis over many of L.A's broken streets.

It ends up not being fun at all. Making sure the car stays straight, watch for every single bump on the road etc...
Especially for a convertible. And especially on a car with an Automatic transmission (!)

So I guess my point is: Skip the sports package.

Otherwise, the car starts at $45 750. (The Touring version I had).
With options it was $51 355. Which is quite a lot.
(But we live in a world where a loaded Mustang GT convertible is over $45 000...)

Bentley Video

We've all seen how great Bentleys look, inside and out.
So in that regard, this video is no great surprise.

The amazing part is that is was shot on an iPhone. And "assembled" on an iPad, inside the Bentley.
(Now, assembled might not mean the whole editing precessed was actually done on the iPad.)

This is quite fantastic...

2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe price

The new Cadillac coupe will dart at $39 000 when it goes on sale at the end of the summer.
It comes standard with the 2.0 Liter turbo (unlike the sedan).

So it is about $3000 more than the sedan.
Or about the same as the Infiniti Q60 (Old G37)

I think it is a fair price considering the competition.

We'll just have to see how it looks n the streets. As, so far, the pictures have shown quite a boring design without much presence....

Ford Troller

Troller is a Brazilian brand that was bought by Ford back in 2007.
In 2012 they showed a really interesting concept called the Troller TR-X Concept 4.
(Which looked much better than previous "non Ford" Troller models. )

Now we have these pictures from Brazil showing the production version.
Which looks very similar to the concept. It is based on a shortened version of the  Australian Ranger pick up. (The one we really should be getting over here...)

This is the concept from 2012.
Pretty much the same thing...

I think it looks really cool. It could, and should be offered in the US as an alternative to the Jeep Wrangler.
Just call it Bronco over here. Offer a nice Ecoboost engine and a Diesel.

What do you think???

2015/16 Volvo XC90

It seems that we have seen spy shots and teasers of this car for years now...

Well, here is another one.

Volvo released another teaser video featuring some "cool and upscale" Americans.
(Which I guess is what they're looking for)

You are not going to see much of the car.. (The picture above is pretty much all you're going to get so far)
We should see the whole thing in a few months.

2015 Mercedes CLS

 Stop the press!

It looks like the CLS is getting new headlights for the new year.
(And that's A LOT of lights)
Here is what they look like now.
