2014/15 Lexus GS-F

Last Updated:

I guess Lexus feels it has to compete with the M5 and the AMG E-Class.
For some reason.

The GS being one of the most boring designs out there, it looks like Lexus, once again, as turned the boring sedan into a visual nightmare of skirts, wings, holes, too many lines everywhere etc…

it looks like a car you see in a video game. Not sure this will help being taken seriously. I can’t really imagine anyone trading in their M5 for something like this.

Which is too bad. As the GS has gotten very positive reviews in general. And this version’s 5.0 Liter V8 with 465hp probably drives great.

  1. Toyota designers tend to go down one of two paths, boring and vanilla, or juvenile and amateurish. Neither one being good.

  2. If I was a balding, impotent man experiencing a midlife crisis, I would definitely buy this over a BMW or Audi. If I'm going to spend the amount of money these kinds of cars command, I want drama and involvement. BMW began to lose its way with the previous generation M5 and the current car is too heavy. Audis are getting fatter and more visually indistinguishable from one another, and the company can't design something exciting without help from Lamborghini. Meanwhile Lexus is trying something new. Not downsizing to forced induction. Lightening every vehicle with each redesign. Building the cars we actually want them to (LFA, LF-LC, IS coupe). At least trying to create some excitement rather than reuse the same conservative design.

But against a Mercedes? No way. AMG is in touch with it's S&M side yet the car is still at its core a Mercedes.

One final note on Lexus: why is everyone hating on the spindle grille when years ago Audi did pretty much the same thing with the huge rectangle on the faces of all its cars?

Longest run on sentence in the history of writing. Vince, for the love of God, why in the hell can't you take a writing class???

That being said, I'd take this over an M5 but no way in hell would I consider this over a E63.

The force is not strong with this one.

  5. Skirts, wings, and holes…

You are absolutely right! This looks like something out of the Burnout series.
