2014 Chevrolet Volt: $5000 price cut.

Last Updated:

GM has announced a $5000 price cut on the Volt. Starting with the 2014 model year.
So it now starts at $35 000. Plus up to $10 000 incentives which puts the new price in the mid-20’s.
Not bad at all.

I test drove the Volt twice and really like it. I think it is still a much more practical alternative to a pure electric car. And can serve as a main, or only car.
But I still think leasing is the way to go as far as new technology goes. It gets better and cheaper every year.
Although I welcome a huge price cut, I can’t imagine what it does to the resale value of a 2012 or 2013 model.

Otherwise, only small changes for the new year (Like the new color pictured above).
And still, no sunroof option….

  1. IF Chevy wants to sell more of those, they need to update its external design. Looks like the 80's rendition of 2015.

  2. Is the price cut due to the Nationalization of GM? i.e. are they cutting the Government $5000 subsidy to the owners (aka rebate) and just taking it off up front (since the Federal Government is STELL a major owner of General Motors (aka Government Motors) ???
