Infiniti JX35 Test Drive Part One.

Last Updated:

Interesting to drive this about a week after I drove the more truck based giant QX56.

The JX is a completely different way to transport 7 adults in luxury.
It is based on the FWD car platform used for the Altima/Maxima/Murano.
It is basically Infiniti’s version of the new 2013 Pathfinder. With its own design and interior.
It is also made in the US.

So far I only have a few first impressions. The ride seems fantastically comfortable.
If a bit soft.
Steering seems to have zero feel to it.
As usual, the Nissan CVT/V6 combo works perfectly.

I really like light interiors, but this one tends to be a bit yellow. Like a light yellow instead of the “cream” used in most cars… Weird.
Also the satin metal finish is a nice touch. But it seems to be overdone here. And now most of the metal ends up looking a bit plasticky.

I will report back after I drive it more. As usual, feel free to ask any questions you might have.

I test drive the M37h and had he exact same impression of that infiniti!!! I though infiniti was a BMW challenger. Sounds like they are now going after lexus/lincoln/cadillac.

  2. This thing is a hideous, tacky monster. I don't know what Infiniti is thinking with the style of their latest SUVs.

  3. This artful CUV is selling like crazy. Why? It's gorgeous, is of high quality, has the best engineering and it's an Infiniti by Nissan.

  4. Infiniti is making some horrendous decisions on design. The grill as on the Q is horrible. The D pillar shape is pointless and looks cheesy. This whole overall look is just tasteless especially when the vehicles are as expensive as they are.

When it comes to handling the Infiniti G is the one to test drive. Infiniti M, 5 series, Lexus G, and so on lean toward the soft side to accommodate older consumers who can afford them. The new 5 series is notorious for vague steering, the result of going the electric route.

  6. Incredibly hideous, overwrought and tacky. Everything about the JX is completely overdone.

The fact that it has a CVT makes it an immediate no-go on my list.

ML or MDX for me, please.

Vince, I think it is about time that you ban the obvious Nissan salesman. His comments are obnoxious.

  7. This JX , which my best friend just bought is really shockingly good. I didn't want to say much to him as I drive an Acura Mdx, my second. I was convinced Jim's Jx would be nice enough, cvt and and decent to drive vehicle but,. Ummmm, lets call a spade a spade, this freakin thing is soooo nice, I will have to consider one next time. Just sayin'

    Bwahahahaha Snort! Good one.
    Wait… were you being serious?

Where are your manners Sir! Didn't your mama teach you not to lie….

  10. hmmmmm, very odd thread, people pro jx and against jx. That's ok isn't it. Aren't we in the land of freedom? Why are some so angry and ???. I don't understand. and what is Vince doing that is wrong? I don't see it.

  11. Really hate that vehicles with Americans in mind are always front-drive with 50-speed automatics.

  12. "The new 5 series is notorious for vague steering…"

REALLY? I own one–hadn't noticed that. Do you mean vague and sloppy like a Toyota/Lexus?; or vague and sloppy like a Ferrari California?
