2013 Honda Civic

Last Updated:

Honda was pretty quick with coming out with “improvements”.
It does look a bit more upscale, kind of.
We have yet to see pictures of the interior, which in my opinion was the area that needed the most work in the 2012 design.

At least, they seem to respond to criticism.

  1. Who cares.

The Civic has been eclipsed by almost everyone in the segment. The Elantra, even with its revised MPG ratings, is a FAR better vehicle. I absolutely despise everything that GM does, and I'd take a Cruze over a Civic. I'd stop short of a Corolla though…

  2. I don't understand how people can say this vehicle is not as good when they have not yet announced the powertrain and interior changes. The Civic is still good for the majority of compact car buyers. My sister is holding out for a 2013 Civic. Why? Elantra may look nice, but rides harshly. Focus is packed with tech, but on the test drive, the powershift transmission slipped into neutral as she was making a right turn. A lot of revving, but no forward movement, and then it suddenly slammed into gear. VERY dangerous, and this was on a brand new vehicle! My sister found the ride in the Civic to be comfortable, and the car easy to drive. The improvements to the interior will keep the Civic a best seller. It doesn't need gimmicks like the other entrants to sell.

Of course it did. Whatever you need to tell yourself.

    Hahahahaah

This is the "Nissan is a great piece of kit" guy again. How's it going Nissan salesman??

The new Sentra is an immediate also-ran at introduction. It has received pretty poor reviews from all major publications.

Yeah, buy the underpowered Sentra with Nissan's woefully unreliable CVT transmission to go along with it.

    Great idea.

  5. The reason most go for the Civic is Hyundai is not the deal it used to be, and while Honda isn't at the bleeding edge of high tech, they can sell them without a Hyundai 10 year warranty because they command top dollar at resale and the reliability is still bulletproof except for their auto transmissions.

    Elanta > Civic

You might want to check the residuals again. They have improved ten-fold over what they used to be. Also, it is one of the highest rated vehicles in its segment that Consumer Reports has tested while the Civic isn't even recommended anymore.

Sounds like you might be stuck in the past

  7. This early refresher just proved that Honda prepares their first model run and refresh at the same time. They just normally hit the button to switch after 3 years. I wonder if they are keeping it as this until another full redesign or if they will conjure another refresh for 2015.

BTW, I can attest to the Focus shifting into neutral while the gear leaver is still in D. I like ford but I am staying away from their Powershift transmissions. Believe it or not after sitting in all of the cars in the class at the recent Miami auto show, the Sentra was an unexpected surprise. Too bad for the weak engine and CVT.
