2014 VW Golf GTI

Last Updated:

Not sure why VW is calling this a “Design Study”.
It is pretty much what we’ll see next year as the new GTI.

German sources claim power will go up just a bit with 217hp from the same 2.0 Liter Turbo.
Which is still far behind what most other manufacturers can squeeze out of a 2.0 Liter Turbo.

  1. They need to wring at least 240hp out of that thing. There's no reason that if Ford can do it, VW can't.

Anyway, I love this car. My first and third cars were GTIs. Complete with the plaid patterned seats. Love them!

  2. VW underrate its engines, at least the 2.0T. A ¸207hp GTI is not that slow compare a 260hp Mazdaspeed 3…

  3. I'm in love all over again. Beautiful crisp clean lines. Lower, sleeker, buttoned down. Can't wait to drive one.

A STOCK Mazdaspeed3 is still faster than a APR chipped Stage 1 MK6 GTI.

What in the WORLD are you talking about?

VWs are boring and have absolutely abysmal reliability ratings. I honestly have no idea why anyone would want to buy one.

  5. I don't care if the VW is lower on power than the competition. It's like a Samsug Nexus compared to an iPhone. Sure the Samsung is a powerhouse of features and "power" but the iPhone is sublime to behold, touch and use. (Except for the maps).

  6. I don't care if the VW isn't as fast as the competition. It's like an iPhone vs. a Samsung Galaxy. iPhone is sublime and polished. Samsung is just another plasticky appliance.

  7. Unlike iPhone, the VW falls apart quickly and will burn oil sooner than later with those awful VW engines
