More on the all new Mercedes A Class

Last Updated:

At least, they are trying something different. Unlike Audi with its “new” A3.

Engine offered (In Europe) include:
-1.6 Liter with 115hp
-2.0 Liter with 156hp
-2.0 Liter with 211hp
The top diesel version uses a 2.2 Liter engine with 170hp

6 speed manual and 7 speed automatic transmissions are available.

We’ll have to wait to see which one is coming over here.

  1. From the previous photos, I wasn't expecting to like this. But it actually looks good, especially considering how bad MB's newest cars are looking. This looks much better than the BMW 1 series. This thing actually looks pretty cool.

  2. This looks very nice, but, unfortunately, it looks more like an Impreza or Mazda3 than it's pure euro rivals from Audi and BMW. The air vent in the interior shots are goofy, unlike what Audi has done with the next A3.

  3. Suddenly Mercedes is no longer a status symbol. It's just a German GM offering everything to every price level. …yawn. and no thanks.

  4. The car is gorgeous!

    It will sell like hotcakes.

I'm in Europe and I find the A3 boring and the Bmw serie 1 worst than the last one. A Fail.

This A Class is no longer the Mommy car.
It will be the Scirocco worst enemy.

  5. I'd love to run the 211-horse model w/ the manual.

@Anon 7:23, Mercedes was always rather bread & butter in Europe. Only here is it on a super-premium pedestal.

  6. Do you think the wannabes would like to show up at the country club in this and 115 horses? People please….

  7. Back end by Toyota. Sides by (the old) Mazda. I'm about convinced that M-B's design department is a mile short of talent.

  8. I think this is one of the most attractive hatchbacks I've ever seen in my life, ever.

Now that mercedes is in bed with world class car builder Nissan, these types of cars will come out.

They haven't even begun sharing engines, and that's the only thing they are "in bed" with each other for.

    Please do some research.

You obviously have never set foot out of America. The A Class has been on sale since the late 90's and has been very successful. What do you have to say about BMW's 1 Series, Audi's A1 and A3 or the upcoming BMW i vehicles?

Only stupid Americans care about image, and it sounds like you have no idea of what you are talking about.

  9. "Only stupid Americans care about image,…"

It sounds like you've never traveled anywhere outside your European trailer park. Of course other nationalities care about image. Like, any other developed or developing country, for instance.

Hey look, another American that has never left his or her country.

    Not surprising in the least….

  11. Why are Americans bashing Europeans and vise versa…if u think for one second, we are all from Europe…wtf, grow up!

  12. "Hey look, another American that has never left his or her country.

Time to go back home Boobie. Mommy is looking for ya….you have been out too long and have lost your way.

  13. Ummm…Nice Imprezza 5-door Tail Lights Mercedes. Why oh why?? Otherwise the car would be a knock out.

  14. Not to bash Americans in general, but rather those Americans here and on other sites who don't know much about cars sold outside of America.

Mercedes and other premium cars makers have been building small cars since the mid 90's. Heck Audi even made superminis back in the 70's ! BMW started it's legendary sportssedans back in the 70's with the 2002. So premium car makers are no strangers to small cars.

To hit another subject I've also read heaps of hate commentaries on IL, C/D and MT about BMW new 328i not being a six anymore. And therefor it's not a real BMW anymore either.

In the rest of the world BMW have always had 4-syls in the 1,3,5,Z4 and X3. The majority of BMW's sold worldwide are in fact 4-syls.

You know…only rednecks call the USA…. America. It is a continent, moron, not a country…
