2013 Cadillac XTS

Last Updated:

Not sure why, but GM just released some new pictures of the car, showing you can actually fit 4 golf bags into the trunk.
Not sure who though it wasn’t possible in such a big car…

I really like the XTS design. Especially from the 3/4 back where the C pillar and thicker chrome surround look really great.
The whole thing actually looks much more modern than the sportier ATS.

  1. I actually think this is really beautiful. This is going to sound sacrilegious, and I can't believe I'm saying it, but I like it better than the A8, which is really looks like a big A4. This is a stately ride.

  2. What is the main competition for this car? When I went to the auto show, the spokesperson said Audi A6 and BMW 5.

  3. I can't bear to watch. It's nothing but a re-skinned Saab 9-5.

GM has absolutely no self-respect. Cadillac should stand tall, but all they've got is a cheap imitation of a 3 series (ATS), a slightly bigger cheap imitation of a 3 series (CTS), a tarted-up Suburban, and two cars that were designed in Sweden by Saab (SRX and XTS).

It's like the kid in high school who was always two fashion trends behind everyone else.

  4. As much I want GM & Cadillac to win, and while this car should also last thousands of miles longer, the short-hooded XTS is not better looking than the long-legged, low-slung A8, which is by far the most beautiful car in this segment right now.

    Does have lovely wheels, however….

  5. It's a winner! Love the Chrysler Wheels, and the stately trademark Cadillac grill. Looks like an A8 or 750il or S class competitor; but I think the price will be more 5 series / E class / A6. For wealthy Americans still stinging from the crash of 2008 and the downslide of 2010-2011. Afraid to drop $100k on a car just like they're afraid to expand their company and hire more people. A perfect car for uncertain times!

  6. I saw this in person at the DC autoshow and I was completely unimpressed. Apparently no one else was either because the stage was empty.

It is boring and anonymous, the interior is lackluster, and there is nothing special about it at all.

  7. Interesting…It looks like a giant ATS to me now. Although, this one looks better. Are they all going towards the lower center reverse light now? I wonder if the next CTS will go that route as well.

But goose neck trunk hinges? Not even my Focus has that crap!

  8. Saw this car ion person and it appears they benchmarked the old Toyota Avalon, but tarted it up.

Heavy handed and tasteless both inside and out.

Your Focus is too tiny for these; as are most cars these days. It takes a lot more real estate to do a hinge this way than with the cabinet hinges and shock-rods that are on most smaller cars. But it is stronger in the wind which is important with a big deck lid. The old Imperials & Rolls Royces, were like this too — as are most "real" automobiles.

  11. I think they released those pictures for the pga Cadillac championship.

You can see a good picture of Tiger Woods with a XTS in background standing in the middle of a lake.
