2013 MG 5

Last Updated:

Still nothing official, but it looks like MG’s competition to the Golf/Focus crowd is pretty much ready.

Sure, to most people in the US, these “new” MG cars are a far cry from the cool stuff the brand used to sell here in the 60’s and 70’s.
Another story in Europe. Where later in the 80’s and 90’s they were selling cars like the Metro, Maestro and Montego.
Rather boring small cars that really had nothing to do with the cool MGBs of the past.

These “new” models are actually more interesting.

  1. I really was excited about this release but now thats a little tempered, because as you said its still centric to one crowd and it truly is a far cry from the 60's and 70's models, those were pure classics.

  2. Definition of boring; 1) Hatchback, 2)4-door 3)small

Definition of extremely boring: A small 4-dr hatchback.

  3. The phrase 'Flogging a Dead Horse'springs to mind……
MG is gone, There is nothing 'MG' about these cars, they are just run of the mill small cars.
I had a Maestro when i lived in the UK, and I still fail to see how this cars is more interesting, unless you counmt the 'interesting' choice of car color in the first photo.
