2012 Hyundai Grandeur/Azera video

Last Updated:

This is not the US version, but the Korean market Grandeur is pretty much the same car we’ll be getting over here in a few months.
It does look quite impressive in this video.

I think this is the death of the Toyota Avalon. And serious competition to the Maxima, Taurus and LaCrosse.

  1. Correct. From what I have been informed by a very knowledgable person in the toyota workplace, the next Avalon was shown at a meeting along with the production FT-86, new Camry, and new RAV4. He says the Avalon was the MOST stunning car there.

    'Nuff said. 🙂

  3. I never thought I'd see the day when anyone would copy the interior of a Buick. But that's what's been done here. And it looks good. The exterior design is okay, but a bit bland. The interesting bits that they're highlighting are options (folding mirrors, panoramic roof) you'd see on just about any entry level luxury car these days. I'm sure that Hyundai will undercut them all on price. So it's a decent looking car, if somewhat staid, I'd say that this certainly is a huge improvement over the car it's replacing.

That is one of the most ridiculously, ignorant and uninformed comments in reference to the new Azera/Grandeur.

Interior looks nothing like any Buick model. It is a lot better looking inside and out than the current bland and very anonymous model that it will be replacing.

In fact, I think Hyundai is finally going to have a viable competitor that will be able to go toe-to-toe against the Avalon and the top selling Lexus ES model.

Jeesus… relax shill. There are many design elements that are similar to the Lacrosse and other Buicks. How about that character line on the side exterior, or the blue accent lighting on the dash and door panels for instance. There is a much closer connection to the Buick than either of the outdated Toyota/Lexus models you mentioned. I actually think that the Buick looks much better than this frumpy Hyundai. It doesn't really matter to me though, I'm the wrong age for any of these old farty cars.

  6. The side rear haunches look just like Buick, which is a good thing as that is one of the best looking parts of the LaCrosse.

These Hyundais are extremely good looking, at least in the snippets we can see. I agree with you Burlapp – the next Avalon had better be a knockout or its dead. And as much as I love the Maxima, Taurus and LaCrosse (funny you should pick out the three equivalent size cars that I love), Hyundai now sits right there beside them. Hyundai is a very fast learner!
