What could have been: 1958 Chrysler Imperial

The 58 Imperial turned out to be quite a car. But it didn't push the envelope like this concept did.

Whew! Thank God they didn't push it this far!

That's got to be Virgil Exner's work. Looks like a giant early 1960's Valiant / Lancer.

Build it now. Could save Chrysler.

Strong hint of Valiant in that glasshouse

That was a time when you didn't have to search for the nameplate to find out if the car was supposed to impress you--it was OBVIOUS! Unlike TODAY's mediocre generics! (Honda-Acura / VW-Audi / Toyota-Lexus / Ford-Lincoln / Ford-Volvo (now somethig else-Volvo; if anyone cares) Mercedes-Maybach / etc.etc... It's pretty sad when a $45k Lexus is hard to distinguish from a $25k Camry (which itself looks like a blurry mix of anything & everything). I sure miss that attention to detail!
