Toyota FT-6=86 part 2

Last Updated:

Toyota will show another version of last year’s FT-86 in a few days.
It is said to be very close to the production model we might see later this year.

This is one Toyota many are waiting for. With a Subaru version coming as well.

Let’s hope the final design stays true to the concept, as much as possible.

Here is the first version of the concept.

  1. Yes, and with it will come a tinny doors, thin, cheap plastic interior bits and the Subaru brand will see its brand ethos further guided by Toyota. Hope they at least keep the Toyobaru version AWD. Well at least it looks good in pictures….

  2. Please don't tell me that the pic at the top of the page is the "revised", almost ready for production, front end of the FT-86.

If so, it has regrettably been infused with a massive dose of Toyota wimpiness.

  3. I didn't like the concept. It's even smaller than the last Celica. I hope it will be little bit larger and upscale than the concept.

  4. Sort of tough to tell anything. I think it might be kind of nice looking. It's a Toyota, so I really am expecting that they'll botch it and somehow make it bland. But so far, I like it better than the juvenile looking LFA.

  5. Lol at all the shills posting in here. Copying Hyundai? Massive dose of wimpiness? Doesn't look like the previous concept? Are you people looking at the same picture?

Pay close attention, the hood is LOWER than the earlier concept. Therefore, it looks MORE aggressive than the earlier concept.

Toyota can't be copying Hyundai because the Genesis coupe looks like a melted Celica in the first place! So if Toyota is copying anyone, it's Toyota.

Also LOL at the LFA being "juvenile".

I guess in comparison the new Pagani is comical then.

  6. Subaru's flat engine design is prone to leaky valve cover gaskets and poor gas mileage. These are the main reasons I would never consider this car. So why is Toyota collaborating with them again? Subaru's are for lesbians that know nothing about cars.

  7. Subaru's are for lesbians that know nothing about cars.

Tell that to all those guys with 300+ HP WRXes and STis.

Shows that you know nothing about THIS car (and cars in general)

Toyota has thoroughly re-engineered and redesigned the engine to meet their standards. I highly doubt they would be satisfied with poor gas mileage and leaky gaskets.

New Subarus are mostly free of the gasket issue, and fuel economy has been improved on the new models. Subaru is also coming out soon with a completely redesigned engine, which I'm sure Toyota helped out with.

Subarus are quality cars for the most part and great year-round cars.

VW Beetles and Audi TTs are for lesbians.

    …aah; ahem; those aren't guys.

  10. I guess if you make Ten Grand on every Prius, you've got a boat-load of dough to blow developing a boondogle like this.

  11. The real lez car is the Ford Ranger hands down. Janet Reno drove one.
Subaru has come a long way but that boxer engine has some issues and gets lousy mileage. They should take a lesson from the Porsche 6 boxer that has way more power, 2 more cyl and gets better mileage. Obvious SOA mangmt is getting on track but need to come a long way to compete. The top SOA staff all looks like their mommy dress them in DK NY cloths
