2012 Hyundai Veloster

Last Updated:

Just a teaser for now.
But we do see the convenient 3rd door and the double glass hatchback.

I really think this could be quite an interesting car.

We don’t have enough fun 2 door hatchbacks around.

  1. Wow thought the 2nd side door was gonna be suicidal , guess not, cant wait to see the rear without camo, the lastest spy shots seem weird with lots of odd angles and charecter lines all over the rear. If this thing starts at 18k-19k I think they will have a battle, but if it starts at 15k-16k there gonna sell alot !

  2. Looks to me like just another boring hatchback. Not that different from Lexus CT200h.

I also fail to see what's sporty about it:-(. I guess they the Genesis Coupe for that.

I guess you haven't heard too much about this then. Hyundai is calling it a true successor to the CR-X, which was a BLAST to drive.

There is a rumored turbo four with 180-200HP and this is based off of the Accent. You do the math for the power to weight ratio.

    Educate yourself.

I'm finding it difficult to give Hyundai/Kia the kind of respect that other people are. I realize they've improved dramatically. They just made the crappiest stuff for so long that I'm not willing to give them another chance.

That said, the shape of this looks good. And Hyundai has a razor sharp vision for their brands. If they want to build a modern day CRX Si, then I have a feeling that they'll do a much better job at it than Honda is doing right now.

What? The car is not even officially out yet! Official specs are not out yet! How exactly does someone "educate" themselves in this case? Give me a break.

The more important question is, how much did Hyundai or whoever you work for pay you to say this ridiculous comment?

Or are you just a Korean loyalist who said it for free and out of pride?

Honestly, Hyundai hasn't made crap products in about 10 years now. They might not have been class leading but they definitely weren't garbage.

My neighbor is a pharmaceutical sales rep and drives for a living (practically). He has had six (maybe 7) Hyundais since '94 and ALL have had well over 200,000 miles on them before he sold them but one.

He had one of the very first Santa Fe's that came into this country in mid 2000 and he put 290,000 miles on it with no major mechanical failures. His Azera he sold with 160,000 miles because he HAD to have a Genesis which now has 90,000 miles on it.

Hyundais aren't crap cars, and his story is a good testament to it.

I am in complete agreement with you there. Except for the fact that the Veloster is NOT a 2 door hatchback. Too many doors, too much weight, too much complexity.
