2012 Chrysler 200 Convertible

Last Updated:

Same changes as the 2011 sedan.
Basically the old Sebring with new front and rear. New interior and V6.

I think it does look fine. Much better than the outgoing Sebring, but that’s not saying much.

  1. I don't know if I think it actually looks good, or if I like it because that means the current one will be leaving us. I think it's fine, although the SAAB grille looks like it's missing an emblem. I'd take one over a Camry or Sonata at the rental counter.

  2. I think it looks great. (And you haters cant complain about the C pillar anymore!)

And they own their niche. Who else makes a true 4 person convertible cruiser?

Show me this in a navy blue pearl with tan interior – you got a sharp looking ride.

  3. I saw one of these on I-275 in a Tuesday eve. snowstorm in Metro Detroit. The rear is still fat, but it looks a little better. It tracked well in the snow at 35-40 mph when we broke free from traffic. The soft top that takes up the same space as the hard top is a deal killer though.

  4. I hate the new headlights on the 300 and on here. But apart from this, this is a very very attractive car! I especially love the rear end and side profile, and it almost looks like they lowered the car by an inch or two? I don't know, but it sure looks good.

  5. Vince, I hope that you do a test drive of the 200 sometime in the near future. I know that you are not thrilled by its styling, but there are so many substantial changes (suspension, engine, interior) that the 200 may actually be a good value. At least it is no longer an embarassment as was the Sebring. Hey, sometimes descendants of laggards grow up to be fine, hard-working people; so also might the 200 be worth a closer look. Keep up the good work!

  6. I hope they improved the top mechanism. I rented one once and it sounded like bones crushing when I put the top down (I checked and there was not a body in the trunk).

  7. The old one worked fine, but didn't look that great. This looks awesom. If this is the same price as a 3-series (Hardtop conv.) then it's a tough choice. Only the Volvo conv has an arguably nicer dash–but the volvo is just enought smaller to get crossed off my list. As hardtop-convertables go; this is a tough act to beat. THAT's why, after looking at the 3-series, Lexus's 'verts, the Mustang, the Volvo, VW EOS, Saab 9-3, & Sonota; I've decided to buy the Chrysler 200c. I know a few folks think any American car is crap; but I'm not buying it for them. The is for me, and I REALLY REALLY LOVE what I see. As a complete package–it has no equals. Usually I go for cars that are a but more rare and unique, and this has always been a #1 seller among convertables. So I'm going to make an exception this time, and buy the "popluar" car. (I will admit though, if the Mustang Shelby were available as a HARDTOP 'vert; the choice would not be so easily obvious.)

  8. Too bad you can't rent a Limited or Hardtop convertable. Only the bottom-of-the line are ever available. Unless you rent an Audi or BMW.
