US Ford Focus ST

Looks like the US version will be getting different tail lights.
Still, for once, it is really hard to tell the difference between a European Ford and a US one.

And the US lights do seem a bit more interesting.

  1. It is a good thing that the US will look similar to the European. They have better tastes over there. And I have to say that the taillights are a little bit of a turnoff, in an otherwise very attractive package. Now, if they can match the reliability of it's cousin, the Mazda 3, they have a winner.

  2. What's with the cutout under the taillight on the side? If that's a plug, I'd be dissappointed, I guess it could be the fuel door. It's only ok to me.

  3. The tail lights look like bug splats. While I agree that Ford has way upped its quality and that it has some nice drive characteristics in its vehicles, Ford's styling has gotten way too busy and weird for the sake of weird. Their designer's need to calm down a bit. Tooo much sculpting on the side of this vehicle.

  4. I wonder how they got those smoked lenses past Mulally. Isn't one of the big points of "One Ford" supposedly for getting more parts commonality?

Fret not. Since cars are so often ONLY bought in white, black or silver these days, it'll be out of sight, out of mind.

I completely disagree. Fords designs have become much more purposeful and authentic. Something that domestic and asian automakers have generally lacked in their small cars. If I wanted a bland appliance that's been designed by committee, I'd drive a Toyota or Hyundai.

  7. Agree, lots of curves and angles can look good, focus/fiesta/mini etc
Lots of angles curves can look bad, acura tl, honda crosstour, bmw 7 with bangle butt

Simple design can look great most audi,
or simple design can put you to sleep vw jetta

Guess it depends on how it is put together

  8. I pray that this thing starts BELOW $24,000.

I doubt this will happen though. Knowing Ford's new pricing strategy, this will probably start at $25,500 and not offer enough standard equipment.

If they price it right, this will replace my Mazdaspeed3 if Mazda doesn't come out with something strong for the next generation!

  9. I like the red taillights more, but hey, I'm in Europe, so I will see these 🙂 But I hope they will still offer the orange paint they offer at the current version. I like that color more than this new one…
