2010 VW GTI Prices

Last Updated:

The new GTI will start at $24 000 in the US.
The 5 door version os about $600 more.

That is pretty much the same price as the current version. The new interior alone is well worth the wait.
The GTI remains one of the most fun you can have driving.
Let’s hope it gets more reliable than it has been in the past…

  1. Vince, it is a reskin of the MK5. How exactly will it be more reliable?

It will more than likely be the exact same…

  2. VW's and Audi's "evolutionary styling" seems to evolve more slowly than monkeys evolved into man.

Sheesh. Reliable or not, once properly outfitted the GTI is too expensive.

  3. too much moola $$$$, there are too many good cars out there and too many priced much lower. as a matter of fact VWs aren't even highly rated for quality. they haven't won a major quality award in a loooong time.

  4. WRX is a defuct , old style, tacked together piece of subaru, forget it. I'd rather any VW including their version of that terrible Chrysler Van before getting a Subaru.

I'm sorry but the WRX is just FUGLY. I'd rather have the refinement of the GTI any day.

Handles better. Accelerates MUCH faster. Interior is still decent. AWD Better resale value. More reliable.

Give me the WRX as well, at least it will be more reliable than the VW even when tuned with 320AWHP.

My best friend has had a moderately tuned WRX since 2002 and 120,000 miles and it hasn't had a single issue other than having to replace the OEM clutch because it couldn't take the added power.

A STOCK VW can't even hit 15,000 miles without encountering a problem as evidenced by my 2007 GTI.

You must really like your service writer then. I hated every dealer I took my VW too in the Northern VA area.

  6. Hey- I'm insulted. I had an '82 and it was better looking than this, cost 1/4 of the price and was on the road for 16 years. I doubt anyone will want to pay the upkeep to keep this one on the road that long. I think VW's PR department should show the underside of their cars, since you will be seeing a lot of it while it is in the shop. I have been trying to wean myself from saying anything negative about Volkswagen, but after the comparison of this to the '82, I couldn't help it, sorry.

  7. There's no way the Northern VA VW dealers could be worse than the Boston-area dealers, especially Boston VW and VW Gallery…

This is part of the problem here. THREE areas now with crappy dealers.

VW dealers in my area (San Fran) are also notoriously terrible. No wonder why VW is having so many problems aside from their unreliable vehicles.

Fairfax VW is the absolute pits, as is Lindsay VW in Sterling, VA.

Both have a SLIMY sales force and after sales service couldn't get any worse with service writers that argue with you.

  10. I'd honestly rather have a Civic Si.

At least with that I would know that it would stay in one piece and not break. I've heard good things about the Honda dealers in my area here…

  11. STARTING at 24K?!?!

For a BASE GTI for 24K? Add DSG and a few other options and it is going to get up to 28K quickly.

Far too much money for the performance factor, not to mention this is heavier than the MK5 with less than 10HP more.
