New B2001 Buck Lacrosse pictures

At least from these, it doesn’t look like this car could turn Buick around.
Would you really consider it if you never thought of getting Buick before?

Looks like GM will need tons of advertising money to even try to change people’s mind about Buick not being a car for the over 70 crowd…

  1. There isn't one car that can turn around Buick's situation. Buick needs a showroom full of great cars, and I think this looks really good looking. It's better looking than any Lexus or Infiniti. The one thing that I suspect will be the telltale sign that this isn't a real luxury car is the abundance of fake woodgrain. It would be nice if they used some other finish and offered real veneer as an option.

  2. WRONG! Uh dude – -who do you think bought the Enclave? PREVIOUS Buick owerns? WRONG? That car alone converted several thousand german/japanese owners to Buick – and this Lacrosse will follow suit. Wait and see.

  3. As I recall, Buick was using the Lincoln MKS as a benchmark, but the interior has nothing on the MKS. As usual, all the fake wood looking plastic, hard plastic abounds.. It is a step up from prior Buicks however.

Exterior proportions look a little weird.

  4. To answer your ridiculously biased question: the answer is "definitely". The only thing wrong with the 2010 LaCrosse is the lame name.

  5. Oh plese, this is the best looking Buick sedan in decades. I think this car is much more stylish than the new Ford Taurus. Buick can't survive with just the Lacrosse, Enclave & the long in the tooth Lucerne. How can you pass judgement on an automobile that you haven't even driven yet? My parents have driven Buicks for decades: Park Avenues, Lesabres, Riverias and a Wildcat during the late 1960's. I am 45 years and have driven imports most of my adult life and am seriulsy considering trading in my bland 2008 Honda Accord Ex-L V6 for a CXS trim level with AWD when this car hits the dealer lost later this summer. & I'm hoping the Insignia based new Regal with make a great midline product for the brand. Bucik should have direct injection trbo 2.4L 4 cylinder engines and 3.0 liter turbo DI six cylinders as the optional engine.

  6. I like it. It looks better than an Accord, Camry, or Taurus.

I know it's difficult for GM to resist flooding rental car lots with bread and butter cars because of the money, but that comes at the price of diluting brand image. Let's hope they won't treat this car like another red-headed step-child.

Also the Lacrosse/Invicta is more than half a size smaller than the MKS.

    Agree!
    The Lacrosse should've been INVICTA
    (& the Regal stayed INSIGNIA)

  8. It looks to me like GM has turned a corner on their interior and exterior styling. Hopefully this will carry through into their other products. People will buy this only if the price is competitive compared to the competition.

  9. ARE YOU NUTS? This is the one of BEST looking mid-sized cars around. It doesn't look ANYTHING like a "Buick" as we're use to. This is what America needs – NOT over inflated "ecomony cars" like the Camry & Accord.

Let's see: Taurus, Malibu, CTS, Fusion, and now this. Crash them, put a "FOR SALE" sticker on the window and it would STILL be more attrative than a Camry or Accord!

    Completely agree.

This Buick wouldn't make me think twice about getting a BMW or a SH-AWD TL. I'd still get the MKS over this, can you say Ecoboost?

  11. I like it, but I'm more of a sporty car person, so it's not something I would buy anyway. I wouldn't consider one of the many cushy old people cars from Lexus either. One care won't save a brand, but the Enclave helped and every additional good vehicle helps. Baby steps.

  12. Actually it looks pretty nice. Let's give it a chance in the real world before dropping outdated stereotypes on it…

  13. I saw the car in person at the auto show, and it looked pretty decent, but I'm pretty annoyed by the fake woodgrain in Buicks. For the amount you're paying for a Buick, mid-$30Ks to $40K, you think they could add in some real wood, or at least, better looking plastic-wood.

Also, why are they copying Mercury/Lincoln's waterfall grill?

  14. Looks great! I'd go for it, and I've generally been an import guy. I hope they have a winner here.

  15. Yes, someone who finally realizes that the new Lacrosse is not as great as some tout. Sure, it's a nice redesign, but it's not enough to turn the brand around or even win the 2010 NACOTY like some say.

The Lacrosse looks worse in person, IMO.

Do not take me as a GM hater. In fact, I commend GM (and Ford) for its recent rollouts. However, the new Lacrosse is just not as great as people say.

  16. Also, why are they copying Mercury/Lincoln's waterfall grill?

That toothy grille was Buick's long before it was Ford's.

  17. Vince I love the site but you're so negative about almost every car! This car is great! It's beautiful! I'm 31 and I would consider buying this car. My 34 year old sister just bought a 2009 Enclave.

  18. THe "Pinched Turd" line down the side needs to go. Who would think that looks good? Who signed off on that? Wagoner?

  19. While this does look good, I honestly don't think I would buy a vehicle from a company that filed for bankruptcy or one that is owned by the government.

You can cross this one off the list for me. For 35K I'll take a base TL and call it a day. The new Taurus is very appealing as well!

  20. Decent for a sporty compact. Probably take a few customers from the Lexus IS or similar ACURA; but I don't think anyone else in the near-luxury field has much to worry about.

  21. No one car will ever be able to turn a car company around. However this is a really good lookin' car. I'd much rather have this over the new Taurus. Although I do like the Taurus, this car looks like a more cohesive, integrated and cleaner design. The front of the Taurus looks great, but the back half, to me, looks artificially elongated and awkward. The tail lights don't look like they belong on the Taurus and the c pillar looks…..a little odd. Again, that's just me. From a visual and styling stand point this LaCross is much better.

  22. If I had to choose between this or a Taurus, I think I'd have two really good looking choices. The Camry and the Accord are just soooo dorky in comparison. The Malibu, which I used to think was the best looking mainstream sedan, looks bland in comparison to this. Buick, and Ford for that matter, will have to prove that they're not just a one-trick-pony to truly change their image. But this is a solid start. To the second post, I don't think that the Enclave was as successful as it needs to be to turn Buick's image around. I agree with the first post that domestic carmakers will have to have their showrooms full of great cars to change minds.

  23. I won't buy one if this car is indeed priced similar to buick's self-proclaimed "competitors" like the acura TL and MKZ. I'd buy one if it's priced similar to camry, accord, altima. actually it's almost difficult to not consider this car when your other choices are camry and accords

  24. "I like it a lot. If they make sure the driving dynamics are Honda Accord like, Buick is saved." -Actually Buick is shooting quite a bit higher than simple Hondas; think Lexus sedans in the $30,000-$50,000 price range– but with Dodge-like handeling. Quite a trick, if they can do it for under $40k.

  25. "domestic carmakers will have to have their showrooms full of great cars to change minds." And if buick has only 3 cars: This, the Enclave, and the Lucerne… I guss we're there! (and for those who don't agree on the Lucerene, just keep in mind that it's targeted towards those old folks who make up most of Lexus's customer base.)

  26. As a current 08 Acura TL owner, I would consider the LaCrosse to replace my TL next time I'm looking for a car. It's a good looking car inside & out, except for the fake wood trim. No car is perfect though, and I'm willing to look some shortcomings. If it looks this good, the quality is good, and the ride, handling, and general dynamics are good it should sell well and bring some customers back to Buick from foreign makes.
