Chinese Honda Accord

Last Updated:

Not sure, but it looks like they already revised it for the Chinese market. Unless it was always different.

But I think this front end looks much better than what we have over here.
It does take much.

  1. Previous generation Accord appeared to be the same in China as in the U.S.when I visited China in 2004.

Accords were used as limos at the 5-star hotels. The Accords I saw had a little badge on the trunk saying 2.4L, so none of those were V6s.

Also saw many Buicks which are strong in China. Most were Buick Century models like those in the U.S. at the time, and also some Daewoo-built, Buick-badged cars.

Smaller Opel designs were also in Buick’s entry level lineup.

As for the current U.S. and Chinese Accord, it’s a great car. I drove a friend’s ’09 Accord with the V6 and voice operated navigation and it’s a wonderful car in most respects.

Too bad the Accord has become so big–the ideal Accord size was the 1994-’97 generation IMO.

My ’04 Accord EX-L sedan is a superb car, but I’d like it better if it were a bit smaller.

  2. I agree with the bigger, but not the uglier. Any sedan that’s comfortable for 5 adults can’t be too racy, so a slick look might not be practical.

The new Accord looks much like a 5-Series BMW to me except for the lack of nostrils in front. It’s a sensible design with comfort and generally good visibility, too.

Interior is well-designed and the navigation is vastly superior to BMW’s horrible iDrive (or whatever they call that knob-controlled mess).

  3. It’s got a horizontal chrome bar in the center of the grill and different wheels. That’s the only thing different from the US Accord.

The grass is always greener isn’t it?

  4. I think it looks awful. Like the American does. And like the previous gen did. And I’m glad that our European Accord looks so, so much better! Which is your Acura TSX, but without the silly tortoise beak grille

….and a chrome surround on the bottom intake.

Does it really look all that different, Vince? I think not.

The Accord is a fantastic vehicle…

  6. this accord and the american one, i see no difference, look like a disjointed effort by 8 to 10 different designers that were assigneed to a specific part of the car and had no inkling of what each other was designing until production day…..what a mess!

  7. Every car grows with the subsequent generation. this gives the manufacturer to come out with another vehicle to take its place.

  8. Yes, car models become so large that they’re replaced. The current Accord is a full-sized car, and the Honda Civic is larger than the Accord was in the early 1980s.

The current Honda Civic is so big that the FIT replaced the Civic as a subcompact car.

None of this matterst much so long as Honda offers a range of cars that buyers want………and they certainly do!

  9. Accords have always been too small and they still miss the mark. If you’ve seen 1, you’ve seen them all — and you haven’t seen much. But then you should’t expect much from an econocar. After all, were not exactly talking 300c ‘s and Cadillac CTS ‘s here.

What in the hell are you talking about? The newest Accord has similar interior space (if not more) than the CTS.

    Idiot.
