Next Astra

With the current one.
The next Opel Astra looks much sleeker. More like a 5 door version of the current coupe.
Ready to compete in the US with the next Mazda3.

  1. Why doesn’t GM America build their own small car instead of robbing overseas brands and putting their own badges on them?
Its not working very well in australia where most of their line up are rebadged Daewoos. People arn’t being fooled anymore.

Ok first off, there’s a difference between Daewoos and Opels. Secondly, it’s not really robbing an overseas brand when GM owns a majority stake of it. Besides, importing Opels has really strengthened Saturn. People aren’t being fooled? Last time I checked Saturns sales are doing amazingly well.

  3. So quick to bash, Opel is a division of GM just like Saturn, Holden, Chevrolet etc. Daewoo is a subdivision of GM. What’s wrong with GM using one of their other products to fill in a gap?

  4. Imagine if Chrysler or Ford got ahold of Daewoo….yeah, my thoughts exactly. They are in the right hands. My respect of GM has grown over the past 5 years. It’s just sad that it took them near death to bring up quality standards.

  5. Yes unfortunately it takes a near death experience for a car maker to get their act together.
But hopefully they come back stronger and better.

  6. Thats the competitiveness of the automotive industry i guess. It works on a “you snooze you lose” basis.
