  1. This is a really nice car. Hyundai did a great job with this one. I read on carconnection.com that it will have a 115 inch wheelbase and that the v8 will have over 300hp and it’ll go 0-60 in under 6 sec. Oh and Hyundai is speculating on a base price for the v-8 of $29,995.00. The only styling item I don’t like is the downward notch of the top of the grill, but other than that I say bring it on! I can’t wait to see the interior.

  2. It’s pleasant looking enough, but how generic and derivative can you get? It has elements from Camry, G35, 7-series. They really need to go out on a limb and come up with a design language of their own.

  3. Good looking car & a v8 for $29,995.00 ? While the Azera is a nice car it should be replaced by this vehicle. Seems like they would compete against each other in the showroom since they are in the same price range. Hyundai is quickly becoming a brand I wouldn’t mind parking in my drive way.

  4. >>> The only styling item I don’t like is the downward notch of the top of the grill..

Agreed, it would look better if the notch were reversed to a bulge… the front needs some work.

  5. Seriously, who thought that the valley-in-the-center-of-the-hood design was classy. Why do these Stylist always have to do something bazaar…So they can brag to their friends that it was them who put the cheesy design stroke in.

  6. You can be pretty sure the V8 will not be $30 000.
That is the price of a loaded V6 Azera.
I think the base 3.8 will start at that price but the V8 would be over $35 000.
    Still an amazing value.

  7. very pretty, g35, camry, bmw, and nissan all in it. Problem is, does hyundai/kia really want to play in high end. The low end is what made them. Are people willing to pay real car money for kia/hyundai?? They may make the mistake the japanese made by moving upscale, which limits resources to apply to low end cars, thus leaving the door they came in open to the Chinese.

  8. It’s funny how different people react to the same thing. I like the recessed hood detail and the rest of the car as well. The chrome strip below the doors is a nice touch I didn’t notice until I saw the top two pictures. It’s unlikely the headlights or fog lights will make it to production, but Hyundai should keep the taillights.

  9. 8:26 here,

I also read that the way the car looks between the a and c pillars is the way the production will look but that the front and back will look a little different so maybe they’ll get rid of the dip on the front grill. Well IF the price is right AND the quality and reliability is good, then I dare say Hyundai just passed Toyota with this one. Of course we’ll have to see how the finished product turns out to be sure.

  11. $35,000 is getting into the 300C territory….I don’t see Hyundai up there with BMW/Lexus/Cadillac/Infiniti…

  12. I think Hyundai is dead-on with a great looking design like this that echoes other popular cars. They are still striving to become an acceptable alternative, and do not have the credibility to set their own trends… yet. As for the concave front hood center, it smacks of a similar design taken from the shoulder of the new 07 Lexus ES350. Personally I like it. If the American car companies could produce something this stylish, they would not have lost the hearts and minds of USA buyers.

  13. They’re pushing the cars they are marketing farther than they can go. What is this going to compete with now, the pontiac g8? Hyundai is going to find out how hard it is to sell cars to beyond the market that appeals to those buying small, cheap asian cars.

I like the porportions but it just doesn’t have the same character to it as does trhe pontiac or anything else it would compete with.

  14. Camry Front and Rear end
    Current Chevy Malibu side profile
Looks “fine” nothing exciting but fine.

  15. the rear end looks exactly like that of the 5-series BMW…the rear bumper cut-lines (in both placement and shape) are exactly the same…

  16. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the G8 Pontiac. The Pontiac GTO was criticised because it was too conservative looking, but the four door G8, with it’s air scoops looks a bit trashy next to this.

  17. I agree with 3:44. Although I do like the G8 and would buy one, it does look a bit boy racerish. The hood scoops and front air dam are a bit on the tacky side. Myself, I like the look of the Holden better because the front looks cleaner and more streamlined. This Genisis seems to approach the sport sedan concept the same way BMW does with the 5 series. I’m not saying it’s as good or anything like that. We won’t know about that until the production version is built. Hyundai, like BMW, made this sedan look sporty without making it look like a race car. It looks clean, streamlined and sophisticated. Depending on how much it costs, it’ll steal sales from the G35, G8, IS350, 300C and other similar cars. Genesis seems it’ll be for those who don’t want to pay or can’t afford to pay for the other cars, but who want similar features. Again, I’m not saying it’ll be as good as the others. We’ll see about that when it’s built and tested.

  18. I wouldn’t change a thing, but have you noticed that Hyundai’s don’t really have a common design theme? Nothing about this car tells me it is a Hyundai except for the emblems. The new Sonata only shares its swoopy Coke bottle fender lines with the Veracruz. Each model seems to be designed by its own team.

I’m not complaining, but just noticing.

I sort of Like this idea…. I get tired of seeing cars with truck grilles, so the “whole family” of vehicles look the same( Avenger front end… Ram front End.).
Or all GM’s look like Cobalts up front.Or all Ford’s have similar grilles/headlights, etc..

    Why be dull?
It’s like the whole Toyota line-up, save Scion, looks like different sized cars… corolla- smaller (old) camry….and so forth.

    have a good week.

  20. 11:14 here,

As the Klingon captain in the 3rd Star Trek movie said, “Giiiivvve meeeee Geeenniiissiiss! Genesis…I WANT IT! Yeah yeah…I know, I know…I’m a dork.
