Still not great looking, but these are much better pictures.

  1. I don’t understand what people have against the interior. It looks to be better quality than the previous generation and a very clean design as well.

  2. Did they get the smallest driver they could find or is this car really big? I still am not enamored by the overall styling. At least the front end does not look as garish as a Chrysler product as the previous pics made out. If they could only find a way to get the engine to breath well without that big hole in the hood.

  3. Its that egg-crate plastic grill.

I can now tell the look that they were going for in these pics but it just has way too much of an old school cheapo look to it, specifically the front end.

I was one of those who don’t like the inside of the Subie, but this picture makes the interior look a bit better. It appears typical Subaru quality is there.

As for the outside, still a horrible grill, too much front overhang, and the hood scoop looks absolutely childish. But so do most tuner car details. Maybe Subaru can factory fit it with a drainpipe-sized exhaust to complete the idiocy.

  5. We finally don’t have to make hard choices between EVO and STI. Thank you, subaru, for making an ugly car even more ugly.

no that’s not true because we don’t know what the STI is going to look like. The STI will not look like the WRX. by the time the WRX is on the road in September we will see the unvieling of the STI at the Frankfurt Auto Show. So save your comparisson until then besides from the looks of things it looks like the EVO X will be a hatch as well so there you have it.

  7. Damn… the car looks old already even before it is released!! What a disappointment, it won’t be able to compete with the new EVO with this kind of old-school design! On top of that, sounds like all the mechanical features will be carried over except the rear suspension… old engineering with new body. I just wonder why the grille looks exactly like the current Camry? Is it because Subaru is part of Toyota since Toyota owns a large portion of Subaru’s stock?

  8. Vince, It is hard to believe that we will get those projector headlights here in North America, since this is only an entry level Subaru, and we always get the cheapest crap over here in the states from Asian companies! Why people still buy these things is beyond me! I bet the new one will be built in Indiana with parts from lowest bid companies from North America and Mexico!

  9. Even if they carry over the mechanical part of the previous WRX, it is just fine. Yes the engine is noisy, but it is still way better than most other vehicles on the road. Personally I think subaru hold back the 6spd transmission, just to differentiate between the WRX and the STI. And it would be unfair to compare the WRX to EVO X, cuz they are different class of vehicles. Price are differed by >6k as well. Just wait till the STI come out and you can make a fair comparison. On a site note, Toyota own less than 10% shares of FHI. They may cooperate on some critical technologies such as hybrid engine, batteries and AWD. I’d doubt that they share exterior design as well.

  10. Looks like the mazda protege5 from a few years back.

It even has the same color blue that was offered on the Protege5
