  1. Aha. So this is that car you asked us to guess/identify several months ago that I was so sure was a Mercury.

    Pretty bland.

  2. VINCE I HOPE THE US GETS SOMETHING A LITTLE BETTER THAN THIS 03-CORLLA/MERCURY-MILAN/SUZUKI LOOIKNG THING. VERY BORING. I THOUGHT PUTTING DIFFERENT ELEMENTS FROM CURRENT DESIGNS WAS HYUNDAI’S THING. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

  3. Holy Cow, I didn’t think it was possible to make an even blander car than some of the ones Toyota has created in the past.

It’s like someone creating an “Ultimate Vanilla” ice cream.

  5. Everyone now,

    YAWN.

Advances the art of nothing. It’s like a fridge on wheels. A bloody appliance. Designed with no soul, no passion.

  6. old design, maybe..

but, hopefully the old toyota quality is back with this one!

    I’m sure we’ll get another US designed/made Toyota P.O.S.

I own 2 toyotas, so I know what I’m talking… trust me, the quality IS going down on these US made toyotas

  7. Maybe Porsche and Ferrari exterior designers are now working with Toyota; who never thought of any new ideas and never forgot any old details. Forget this one, buy a Honda.

  8. Another bland Toyota to clog the motorways of the world. At least the interior looks better than the current car, but not by much. If the American version is this bland then Toyota will loose sales to the Civic, new Elantra & the updated Mazda 3. I am hoping for a sportier car than this for the U.S.A.

  9. Well, who knows what we will get since this is the Japanese version.
Have seen “other” Corollas on this site recently, such as the one that looks like a larger Yaris.

On the other hand , you can go an buy a new 07 Elantra, that looks Different( depending upon one’s own view of things: good or bad, but Different, and not vanilla).

17 K gets ya leather, too, 36MPG(Note: 2001 elantra we rented got 37 MPG all hwy, 31 city, and combined of 33.5, this was when it was EPA of 31MPG hwy).
So, ya might hit 37-38MPG in it, if ya travel mainly highway, and now has the interior volume of a midsized sedan, most saftey features, etc…

I’ll take one over this thing.

  10. from the same company that brought us the Scion line-up, this….. yawn-fest ’06!?

I’d rather drive the new Suzuki SX4!

  11. I think it’s unfair to compare this to an appliance, because many appliances now (Frig, stove, etc) look quite sexy, certainly many of the higher-end stuff from the LG brand does.

It’s sad that I can see more passion in my front loading washer….

  12. I’m glad that this Corolla will only be sold in Japan and Asia.. Phew… Honda’s got nothing to worry about !!

  13. The side view of the wagon looks pretty different versus the sedan. Higher waistline and different windows. Looks much better than the sedan, IMO.

  14. Pre-Crash sensors and Intelligent Parking Assist?—————–Thing in this picture(sedan/blue) looks kind of like a tC.I hope we get the “weird/wild” looking version(akin to the Yaris sedan). This is ok, but they already have a Scion tC, why make it 4 doors(and dull-looking?).Good thing there’s Civic, Elantra, Spectra- and maybe -the new Sentra.
