2007 US Mistsubishi Outlander

Last Updated:

With all the news about the new CRV and the upcoming Nissan Qashqia, I almost forgot the new Outlander.

It does look really nice, inside and out. Offers a new powerful 3.0 Liter V6 220 hp with a 6 speed auto. And some really advanced features like a hardrive stereo system, keyless entry, 18 inch wheels, Xenon headlights, navigation, bluetooth etc…
Plus a better warranty.
And, I bet it’ll be cheaper too.

If I was in the market for a “compact” car based SUV, I would give this one a look…

  1. I think this will be an excellent value and out sales the Rav-4 and current Civic in Japan. Mitsubishi and Suzuki are making a huge comeback and I wish them the very best on our shores.
My list for my next car might be one of the following:
    1. CRV 7. Jeep Patriot
    2. Sx4
    3. Nissan Quasi(?)
    4. Rav4
    5. Mitsu. Outlander
    6. Grand Vitara
This is not in any order, but it is so hard to make a choice. Vince, which do you think would be the best value?

  2. I wonder why the ventilation controls and the center console aren’t centered under the stereo. They’re a bit to the left of center.

  3. Wow, not bad at all. I’m rather impressed. I guess my shopping list now has 4 compact suv’s instead of 3:

    1. Nissan Qashqai (or whatever they call it here)
    2. Jeep Patriot
    3. Toyota Rav-4
    4. Mitsu. Outlander

The Rav-4 and Outlander are here now, the Patriot is on it’s way in the next 2-3 months and the Nissan hopefully won’t be too far behind it. Guess I’ll hafta wait till Spring of 07 to make a choice.

  4. I wouldn’t put the Patriot in the same league as these other cars.

I is quite a bit cheaper too.
Go check out the Caliber interior if you’re interested.
The Patriot will get the same cheap and crappy interior.
Any of these other choices will feel like a Rolls next to it…

  5. Cut that Mitsubishi. As customers, we never know it will survive the next 3 years or not, nevermind trusting that 10 year warranties. Mazda is building a really tough competitor, but again, that badge is more a liability than asset. Nissan is kinda far away (at least a year and a half in the future)Toyota RAV4 is probably the best choice on paper, but I doubt many people will like the rear gate and the handling. Test drive the new CRV to see if you like it or not. Or try to get year end deal with a Volvo V50 or Subaru Forester.

  6. The Caliber/Compus/Patriot interiors only looks good
    with the top end models.
But I will wait anyway to see the Patriot in person anyway.

PS- I meant the Outlander out sells the Rav4 and current CRV together******

I will check to see if the SX4 and Mitsu are really at the dealerships if these posts are true.

  7. I too hope Mitsu gets their act together in the U.S. This is a great looking vehicle, you should test drive one and let us know how it is.

  8. If a small struggling company like Mitsubishi can create such a beautiful and well conceived vehicle for the U.S. market, why can’t a BIG company like Honda even come close???????? Let’s face it, this even looks a great deal better than the no.1 import company’s boring RAV-4!!!!! These two giants better start wiseing up before they find themselves in the BIG BIND Ford and GM are in right now!!!!!!

  9. Vince,

Is it true that Mitsubishi might be bringing the Colt to the U.S.? sorry…I didn’t know how to email you directly.

  10. Vince is right… the Patriot is probably not gonna be in the same league as this or the other choices people have listed. I’ve recently checked out a Caliber and a Compass. If the Patriot is anything like those 2 models, then any of these other’s are already light years ahead of it.

With that said, kudos to Mitsubishi for building this new Outlander. It’s a step up for them and it will def. help bring up sales numbers.

  11. This would be at the top of my list if I was shopping this segment.

SHARP looking SUV! Go Mitsu…we have missed thee…

  12. I have not heard anything about the Colt in the US.
I always thought it would be a good idea.
if they can find a way to make money it would be great.

  13. What’s up with the back bumper? There are cut lines next to the red reflectors on each side. Is that part of the rear hatch, or does it fold down? Better not back into anything.
