Safe SUV’s…

Last Updated:

Just a friendly reminder for those who drive truck based SUV’s thinking they are safe.

I can’t help noticing the alarming number of Fords in these pictures…

  1. ther you go again posting fake pictures to make us cars look bad

there is nothing more solid and safe than a gig usda suv or truck and that is a fact
i have owned many trucks in my life and they were all american made
i could tell you stories about crushing smaller parked jap cars at night when i was a bit drunk. my truck didn’t evenhave a dent!

  2. Fords have always been, currently are, and will continue to be crap of the worst order. No surprise in seeing so many Fords in those photos.

  3. The pictures have nothing to do with “unsafe” vehicles and everything to do with unsafe, idiot drivers who are a menace no matter what they drive. Cars can’t crash themselves.

  4. while it’s true that the driver has a lot to do with crashing or not…I’d prefer to be in a car that doesn’t squash down if it rolls over. Facts are facts you fuckin stupid summers eve douche. You’ll be dead in your us suv and the rest of us will NOT be missing your dumbass posts!

  5. Thanks Vince.

Posting up those pics is just a dumb way of inciting emotions with no context. No one here knows what happened to cause those SUVs to end up that way. For all we know, a DUI could have been involved, speeding could have been involved, improper vehicle maintenance could have been involved….

However, on the other side of the spectrum, I will grant that a driver could have been performing an emergency manuver, over corrected and this was the end result, however that is a situtation that will most likely be in the minority.

If you hope to someday grow up to be a real car critic/advocate then I ask that you try to act like an you have some objectivity rather than attempt to stir your readers with gratuitious assertions.

  6. I get what you’re saying Sarge and agree, however-

    It _is_ just a blog….
Plus he has to put up with Mr. Jones 😉

  7. It doesn’t matter what happend.
    Speed, trunk driving,wrong move etc…
    Of course something happened.

The point is that whan that “something” happens, the roof of your car (truck) should not fold and crush you like a bug.

That’s all I am trying to point out.
    Others did as well.

And thank God I am not a “real” car advocate. Like most of the “car companies owned” automotive press…

He’s so professional, just what the hell is trunk driving ? (do you steer this suv from the trunk that really doesnt have one) or is this your daily slamming of the english language ? Do you ever read what you type before you hit send or enter ???

  9. while it’s true that the driver has a lot to do with crashing or not…I’d prefer to be in a car that doesn’t squash down if it rolls over. Facts are facts you fuckin stupid summers eve douche. You’ll be dead in your us suv and the rest of us will NOT be missing your dumbass posts!

Not only are you probably one of the idiot drivers I spake of, you are most definitely an idiot poster, too.

  10. Being an ex-cop…I think there needs to be some form of objectivity here.

You can’t take pictures of smashed Fords and say they suck because they are smashed. The conditions are NOT given. If they had been Dodge SUV’s, or Hyundai SUV’s, whatever…we don’t know how they would react if the circumstance were exactly the same.

Once again, whether Ford ‘sucks’ or not…if you’re old enough to be able to turn on a computer and type a response, you’re old enough to act like an adult.

Adults who resort to such immature means of criticizing others for their opinion should turn back off the computer and go sit in the corner til they remember what their Kindergarten teacher taught them-how to respect and talk to one another.

  11. this is the dummest post ive ever seen, peoplecan manipulate anything to make it the truth. suvs in many cases are safer than cars, they can take more damage, sit higherup meaning, a head isnt headon with the occupants, they have stronger structures and frames, are they easier to roll overof course, they have a higher center of gravity. its all science as to why they are saferin a crash. in my opinion these rediculous posts of crashed vehicles has made me lose all respect for this site and its moderator and im sure it will not any difference but this was in poor taste, immature, and a reflection of how foolish and ignorrant vince youare i will not be back and will encourage others to also not come up here. no you cant drive a truck based suv or a truck like you can an rx8, but hopefully most people are smart enough not to try……as far a

  12. We can rationalize things all we want but, simply enough; SUVs should protect their passengers in rollovers. Thing is, until the mid 90s people generally didn’t use trucks in the same way they do today. You didn’t see SUVs parked in every driveway on every cul-de-sac in the country. And they weren’t designed for the same crashworthiness as they need to be for how they’re used today.

All of the SUVs shown in the pictures are old platforms that date back to the pre-90s. They have all been replaced by (hopefully) more substantial modern designs.

  13. Sarge is defending a total looser and he looks like a total looser in the process. Look what showed up on Detroit News website about the roof crush strength of Fords horribly engineered, poorly executed trucks.(Not that there cars are any better.)https://www.detroitnews.com/
