BMW Z4 Coupe

Last Updated:

I don’t think it is so bad. It’s weird looking, but I do like hatchbacks.
Although the Z4 might not have been the best design to turn into a hatch.

But the real question is:
Is there really a market for this???

  1. Audi TT and Mercedes-Benz SLK will kill z4 coupe in showrooms and balance sheets. It is just too ugly and weird, especially when Porsche is selling Cayman at similar price. With three superb cars crowded this segment, z4 has no hope at all.

  2. thats funny the cayman “s” costs alot more than this car some 7 or more thousand, and is slower. the audi tt is just a golf in drag, and it has never been a serious contender in this segment and judging from the specs, and what ive seen of the new one it still isnt……the slk is priced way to high to, and the amg is more than the cayman s. every mag ive read has praised this car, it looks good, handles excellent, costs less than the competition and in tests performed better, this car makes much more sense, its what those other cars aspire to be…a bmw

  3. I think this car looks great… from behind. But it still has the ugliest front in the entire BMW lineup. It looks like a deformed frog. “Land shark?” yeah you wish.

  4. this is a hatch look at the line just behind the b=pillar and above the rear window ! those lines you speak of, are for the rear spoiler !

  5. This looks like a goddamned cockroach. It’s hard not to dwell on the “good-ol-days” not so long ago at BMW. Is there a way to put this drivetrain in to something that looks like a TT?

  6. How can you guys rag on this car.. what kind of car do you guys drive??? All I have to say is that my 350Z is being traded in for this car. Lines look awsome and it is an instant attention grabber.

  7. No offense to this car. Don’t get me wrong, I think it will stand out from the crowd, just like Peugeot and Renault style, it is fashionable, loveable, and futuristic. But It is so different-from-this-world that customers have to get pass beautiful cars like SLK, TT, and Caymen, which have equal or superior performance and interior, to buy this car, which is really really hard to do.

If it’s attention you want, it’s attention you’ll get. But they won’t be admiring glances. This car looks inexpensive even though it’s got expensive hardware underneath. At least with a convertible the disjointed design is more palatable.

  9. The Cayman is a good looking car, even if it does re-hash old Porsche style cues.

The New TT looks pretty bad. It lacks the smooth, coherent style of the last one, and grows larger and more bloated this generation.

The SLK is ugly. I don’t care how you slice it, that car is nowhere near as good looking as the Z4. Its rear deck is too long, the grill and headlight assembly is disjointed and pieced together. Finally, the bodysides are cluttered with about 3 or 4 competing lines.
